What does J-Life Ministries mean?
J-Life stands for Jesus’ life. J-Life Ministries’ seeks to model youth ministry and young people’s lives on how Jesus lived and ministered.

Mission Statement:
J-Life Ministries is an evangelical, interdenominational organisation whose vision is the following: “Through holistic personal development, we equip and mobilise the church in Africa to run effective disciple-making youth ministries that will impact the local and global community”.

About J-Life Ministries
J-Life Ministries was founded by John and Lorna Abrahamse in 2001 and God has steadily been growing the ministry ever since. A training centre has been established from where teams of young adult missionaries have been trained in youth ministry and then sent to churches to establish youth ministries by training up lay leaders from the local church. In 2002 two teams were sent out; in 2003 six teams; in 2004 eight teams and in 2005 eight teams are currently working in churches. J-Life Ministries also has an evangelism team called “Across”. This team visits the various churches using music, drama and multi-media as an evangelism tool. A total of seventy-four youth missionaries have been trained since the inception of J-Life and have come from South Africa, Swaziland and the USA. These members have ministered in many different cultural settings and in various denominations. Teams and individuals have worked at establishing youth ministries in the churches where they have worked and have trained approximately 150 lay youth ministers. In 2006 J-Life Ministries will be introducing it’s first Camping Team and Sports focused youth ministers. In mid-2005 J-Life merged with two other youth organisations which are also passionate about equipping the local church in effective youth ministry. One of the advantages of this merger is that it has broadened J-Life’s potential impact on the church in Africa by now being able to offer more diverse ministry training and opportunities.

J-Life Ministries has a passion for Africa and so far has been able to train up leaders in 7 different countries in Africa. An indigenous branch of J-Life Ministries is also in the process of being established in Swaziland. J-Life Ministries' Philosophy for Youth Ministry
A growing concern of people involved in youth ministry in Africa is that there is much church planting going on but very few organisations who are teaching these newly founded churches how to reach and disciple the youth of their communities. If the statistic is correct that says “80% of people who make lasting commitments to Christ are under the age of 14”, then what a responsibility exists to equip the church in Africa to reach this age group effectively!
As J-Life Ministries endeavours to equip the church, its’ aim is to train up leaders in a strategy for effective disciple making youth ministry. In order to achieve this, four different areas of ministry and the tools needed to implement this strategy are taught. The four areas are…

Winning: ministries that will lead young people from different communities to the Lord.
Building: ministries that will nurture and teach the basics of Christianity to those who make commitments.
Equipping: ministries that will equip those who have made a commitment to now put their faith into action. The desired goal at this stage is to produce disciple-makers.
Multiplying: ministries that will focus on leadership development in order to ensure that the ministry is ongoing.
Youth ministries that are effective disciple making ministries will include all of the above. J-Life Ministries is committed to helping churches implement a programme for disciple making. J-Life will not only help churches learn about a strategy for disciple making, but will also empower them with some of the tools needed in order to do winning, building, equipping and multiplying.

FOUNDATIONAL VALUES
All values are subject to the J-Life Ministries Statement of Beliefs.
:: The fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment.
:: Belief in the potential and priority of the local church.
:: Belief in multiplying local leaders.
:: Belief in the potential of next generation leaders impacting and influencing lives.
:: No tolerance for any form of discrimination based on race, gender, age, social status, economic background, educational background and denomination. (Subject to J-Life policy)
:: We will not persist in working in churches that do not share kingdom values and the J-Life mission and/or where there is no evidence of working towards that.
:: Recruiting people will always be governed by their character, desire to be a change agent, discipline, attitude, and willingness to learn.
:: All people ministering for J-Life will endeavor to set an example in speech, life, love, faith and purity.
:: This is a not-for-profit organisation and this attitude needs to filter through everything.

J-LIFE MINISTRIES STATEMENT OF FAITH
1 We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writing as fully inspired of God and accept them as the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
2 We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3 We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
4 We believe that God created man in His own image; that man sinned and thereby brought upon himself the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; that all human beings inherit the sinful nature and commit sin which leaves them guilty.
5 We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died as a substitute for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe in and accept Him are forgiven on the grounds of his shed blood.
6 We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus, His ascension into heaven, and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.
7 We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
9 We believe in the resurrection of all people, the believer spending eternity in heaven while the unbeliever who has rejected salvation being eternally banished to hell.
10 We believe that the one true Church is all those who have been forgiven by Jesus Christ and given new life by the Holy Spirit.
